Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to lead the state’s second international investment outreach with a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates from September 8, as the government steps up efforts to attract global capital and accelerate industrial growth.
The proposed UAE visit is part of Odisha’s broader strategy to engage international investors, institutions and business leaders and showcase the state’s industrial potential, investment opportunities and investor-friendly ecosystem.
During the visit, the chief minister is expected to participate in government-to-business and business-to-business interactions, investment meetings and presentations highlighting Odisha’s economic and industrial strengths.
The outreach will focus on sectors including manufacturing, metals and downstream industries, energy, petrochemicals, aluminium, logistics, food processing and emerging industries.
Odisha, with its strategic location, infrastructure, natural resources, skilled workforce and expanding industrial base, is seeking to position itself as a preferred destination for quality investments.
Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries, Home and I&PR departments, said the UAE presented considerable scope for deeper engagement with investors and business leaders.
“Odisha today presents a strong combination of resources, infrastructure, policy support, connectivity and a rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem. Our objective is to build partnerships that translate into investments, industrial growth and employment opportunities in Odisha,” Sharma said.
The visit will also seek to strengthen engagement with the Indian business and professional community and the Odia diaspora in the UAE.
According to official sources, Odisha has attracted investment proposals worth around Rs 21 lakh crore over the past two years. Of these, industrial projects involving investments of around Rs 3.5 lakh crore have already been inaugurated or grounded, they said.
The projects are expected to generate substantial employment across sectors and create new livelihood opportunities, particularly for Odisha’s youth and skilled workforce.
The UAE outreach is expected to further the state government’s efforts to convert investment proposals into projects, promote industrialisation and create sustainable employment while strengthening Odisha’s position on the global investment map.
