Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is expediting preparatory work for Instream Storage Structures (ISS) to strengthen water conservation and augment water availability across the state, an official statement said.
Water Resources Department Principal Secretary Shubha Sharma reviewed the progress of preparatory works for ISS projects approved in four phases. Senior departmental officials attended the review meeting.
The meeting reviewed the status of preparatory activities for ISS Kanspal, Kadodara, Sungarah, Bharatpur and Phulbari projects. Various works required ahead of laying the foundation stones of these projects have reached the final stage, the statement said.
Sharma directed officials to expedite the remaining process and ensure early foundation laying of the projects.
The department has set a target of laying the foundation stones for more than 30 instream storage structures by the end of 2026, with the objective of enhancing the state’s water storage capacity and strengthening water availability for various uses, it said.
