Bhubaneswar: Odisha-cadre IPS officer Padmakar S Ranipse has been appointed Special Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions on Thursday.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet on a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Ranipse, a 1995-batch IPS officer, will hold the post of Special Director General, CISF, until his superannuation on May 31, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the notification said.
He was serving as an Additional Director General (ADG) in the CISF prior to his elevation to the senior position.
The CISF is responsible for providing security to critical infrastructure and strategic establishments, including airports, ports, industrial units and other important installations across the country.
