Kataka: Odisha BJP’s executive committee began in Kataka on Saturday with focus on party strategy, government schemes and organizational coordination. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, reacting on the meet, said on the occasion of first year of government under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, progress reports and achievements of various departments have been placed before people as it enters second year.
A vote of thanks will be presented to the Chief Minister on how many promises made before elections have been fulfilled and what decisions have been taken for coming days. “The meeting will review party’s programme of past days and discuss how to eliminate any shortcomings. A new roadmap for next 3 months will be prepared and approved,” Pujari said.
He informed that a meeting of MPs and MLAs will be held today at 8:30 pm where feedback will be taken on government’s achievements and hopes and aspirations of public representatives before monsoon session of Assembly starting September 22. A special meeting with district presidents and in-charges will be held tomorrow at 8 am.
The two-day program will conclude with the Chief Minister’s speech, the State President’s presidential remarks, and the guidance of National Organizations Minister B.L. Santosh. He said maintaining coordination between organization and government, MPs-MLAs and MLAs-MLAs is a continuous process. The meeting is focusing on strengthening party at grassroots level as Panchayat and Municipal elections are coming up.
Responding to opposition criticism, he said opposition has right to comment, but it should think why BJD lost after 24 years of rule. On recruitment, he clarified government itself does not conduct direct examinations. Recruitment is conducted transparently by independent bodies like OPSC, OSSC or OSSSC. Government only gives requisitions as per departmental needs. The relevant agency will decide when Police SI recruitment will be done, while government is trying to strengthen Home and Police departments soon.
On corporation and board appointments, he said it is normal to have ambitions in politics and not everyone gets a ticket. Party decision is taken on basis of qualifications, ability and combination of old and new workers. New recruitment process in various corporations and boards may be completed in first phase this year, he informed.
