Bhubaneswar: A horrific murder over suspected extramarital affair was reported in Sambalpur city late on Saturday.
At around 10 pm on Saturday, body of a woman was found in a pool of blood near Sen Park boundary wall under Town police station limits. A blood-soaked knife and two mobile phones were found near the body.
On receiving information, Town police, Dhanupali police, Sadar SDPO and Additional SP reached the spot, seized the body and started investigation.
Police detained one Samser Alli and during interrogation, the deceased was identified as Hina Begum.As per police, Samser and Hina had been living together as husband and wife in Thelkopada area for about 15 years. Police said Samser suspected Hina of having an illicit relationship with someone else and killed her over it.
A scientific team and dog squad have been engaged in investigation. Police sent the body for postmortem and arrested the husband today for further interrogation.
