Bhubaneswar: A quiz competition-cum-awareness program was organized at Ramadevi Women’s University under the chairmanship of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Bratati Harichandan.
The program was jointly organized by the office of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Higher Education Department and Social Security & Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said that although we are physically fit, we are different in mental and other areas, which sometimes we do not know. Today’s quiz competition is not a competition, it is an awareness program and social awareness.
Ramadevi Women’s University Vice Chancellor Prof. Jyosna K.V. Rout attended and said that to solve any work or problem, we have to work with patience, which is not possible for everyone. Especially those who have given and will continue to give to the society. So this day is a very memorable day. She extended gratitude to Bratati Harichandan and Dr. Saroj Lakshmi Singh for giving her the opportunity to speak and thanked students of various colleges for making the program a success.
Regional Director Dr. Saroj Lakshmi Singh said differently-abled people are capable in various ways. They have established themselves in fields of education, health and sports and have brought fame to the state.
OSD of the department Debi Prasad Barik also expressed his views.In the program, a differently-abled student of Ramadevi Women’s University, Vishwa Vandita, performed a song while another student performed a Bihu dance. The two students were felicitated with flower bouquets and shawl.
Researcher Raj Kishore Sharma educated students about the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Finally, a quiz competition was organized among students in various groups. Students from BJB College, Rajdhani College Baramunda Bhubaneswar, Ramadevi Women’s University Bhubaneswar, Samanta Chandra Sekhar College Puri, S.V.M. College Jagatsinghpur, Sailabala Women’s College Cuttack, JKBK College Cuttack participated.
Certificates were given to participants and cheques and trophies were given to winners. Rajdhani Government College, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar achieved success in the competition.
Students, faculty members, officers and staff of various colleges and universities, Social Security and Disabled Persons Department, Higher Education Department and State Disabled Persons Commission office participated. The program was coordinated by Purnendu Shekhar Parida.
