Udala (Mayurbhanj): A youth was taken into custody after allegedly attacking a 10-year-old girl with a dagger during a rampage in Chadada village under Udala police station in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, the accused, identified as Laxman Marandi, allegedly brandished a dagger and created a disturbance in the village before entering the house of Thala Marandi. He allegedly attacked Thala Marandi’s minor daughter with the weapon, inflicting a deep injury on her neck.
The girl was seriously injured in the attack and was rushed to Sub-Divisional Hospital, Udala where she is undergoing treatment. On being informed about the incident, police reached the village and took Marandi into custody. Further investigation is underway.
