Bhubaneswar: Forest officials seized two leopard skins from a person at Baliguda bus stand in Kandhamal district on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a forest team raided the bus stand area and seized the skins while apprehending the accused. He is a resident of Phiringia area in the district.
Divisional Forest Officer, Baliguda, Ghanasyama Mahanta said, “The accused is a resident of Retangia village under Phiringia police station. They were transporting the skins to sell it inside the state. They are involved in skin trade inside the State and not outside. We are investigating the smuggling destination. They are being questioned, further investigation is underway.”
Further investigation into the wildlife trafficking network is underway.
