Bhubaneswar: In view of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, the Collector and District Magistrate of Koraput has ordered the closure of all schools in the district for two days.
According to an official order issued by the Collector’s office, continuous rainfall in various parts of the district has already made commuting difficult and unsafe for schoolchildren. To prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the safety of students, all categories of schools up to the Higher Secondary level will remain closed on September 23, 24.
However, Headmasters, Headmistresses, teachers and other staff have been directed to attend their respective institutions as usual. The order warns that any deviation from these instructions will be viewed seriously.
The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms across Koraput district from 22 to 24 September 2026.
