Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a nowcast warning for 10 districts of Odisha, forecasting light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning accompanied by gusty winds of up to 40 kmph during the next three hours.
The warning was issued at 10.05 am, with the weather office cautioning that several places in the affected districts are likely to experience thunderstorms and rain during the period.
According to the IMD, the warning covers Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Nayagada, Balangir, Nuapada, Subarnapur, Boudh, Khordha, Kataka and Puri districts.
The weather office said Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar city, and Kataka district, including Kataka city, are also likely to experience the adverse weather conditions.
The IMD forecast light to moderate rain along with thunder and lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph at many places in these districts during the next three hours.
The weather office urged people to remain alert and keep a close watch on changing weather conditions. It also advised residents to plan their activities accordingly and take necessary precautions in case the weather deteriorates.
