Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Ganjam, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts and reviewed the relief and rescue operations being carried out following heavy rain triggered by a depression.
Majhi conducted the aerial survey of Ganjam and Koraput along with Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Special Relief Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil.
After the aerial survey, Majhi and the officials landed in Jayapur town in Koraput district, where they held a review meeting to take stock of the situation and the relief measures being undertaken in the affected areas.
The chief minister directed the district administrations and concerned departments to intensify rescue and relief operations and ensure that essential assistance reaches affected people on a priority basis.
“Relief distribution, rescue operations and the provision of drinking water and healthcare services are being carried out on a war footing in the affected areas,” Majhi said in a post on X.
Majhi later visited Chandili High School in Koraput district, where people affected by the depression-induced rains had taken shelter. He interacted with them and enquired about their well-being and the difficulties they were facing.
The chief minister also held discussions with local public representatives and administrative officials and directed them to further expedite relief and assistance operations in the affected areas.
