Bhubaneswar: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has been recognized with the M.K. Rout Pollution Control Appreciation Award 2026 in the Industrial Township category by the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB), awarded for Vedanta Meadows, its modern residential township for employees in Jharsuguda.
The recognition acknowledges the company’s success in integrating responsible environmental practices into every aspect of its business, from plant operations to living amenities for employees.
Vedanta Aluminium continues to advance its sustainability agenda in Jharsuguda through a range of initiatives focused on environmental stewardship, biodiversity conservation, responsible resource management, process controls and community awareness.
The Vedanta Meadows township aptly signifies this multilateral approach. Designed by expert architects with a strong focus on environmental responsibility, the township incorporates innovative sustainable design, extensive green spaces and efficient environmental management systems that support a pleasant living environment for employees and their families.

Extending this commitment beyond its core operations, Vedanta Aluminium recently partnered with the Regional Office of the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Jharsuguda and the District Administration to conduct an Environmental Awareness Campaign 2026 at the PKSS Higher Secondary School, H. Katapali. The campaign included plantation drives, cleanliness initiatives, awareness sessions, street plays and community engagement activities aimed at promoting sustainable practices among students and local residents.
The company is also strengthening biodiversity conservation and green cover enhancement across its areas of operation through unique initiatives such as its Matrivan tree plantation project, while deploying cutting-edge technology-driven solutions to improve resource efficiency and reduce the carbon intensity of its operations.
