Bhubaneswar: The Home Department has asked all Collectors and District Magistrates to take preventive and precautionary security measures to maintain law and order in view of the proposed Odisha bandh on September 30.
In a letter to all Collectors, the department said members of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) and Naba Nirman Yuva Chhatra Sangathan have proposed to stage a statewide general strike on September 30 from 6 AM to 6 PM in the form of road blockades, obstruction of vehicular movement, burning of tyres and traffic disruption over various demands.
As per available inputs, various Opposition parties including Left parties, BJD and Congress have expressed support for the bandh, the letter said.
“You are, therefore, requested to take all preventive and precautionary security measures to maintain law and order and remain alert against any untoward incident during the general strike on September 30, 2026.
Requisite arrangement may also be made to ensure smooth functioning of Central Government and State Government offices in the State. Situation may be kept under close watch to ensure maintenance of essential services,” the Home Department said.
