Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi left for New Delhi on Thursday morning to attend a crucial meeting on the long-standing Mahanadi water dispute.
As per reports, the high-level meeting will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital today. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Union Minister of Jal Shakti C. R. Patil will also attend the meeting along with chief secretaries and technical committee members of both states.
The meeting is being seen as a decisive step towards ending the decade-old water sharing dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh CM Sai expressed optimism before his departure, stating that since there is a BJP government in both states and at the Centre, whatever decision is taken in the meeting will be acceptable to them. CM Majhi had earlier expressed hope that the dispute would be resolved before Diwali.
