Kataka: A 21-year-old youth reportedly attempted suicide by jumping from a water tank on the premises of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka on Tuesday.
The youth, identified as Rajesh Parida, had gone to the psychiatry department for a check-up. He is reported to be a mental health patient. Suddenly, he climbed onto a nearly 50-foot-high water tank inside the hospital campus. Despite prolonged efforts by hospital staff and others to persuade him to come down, he refused and jumped from the top.
He was immediately rushed to the trauma casualty in a critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that his condition remains serious.
