Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the statewide Odisha Bandh called tomorrow, police have made elaborate security arrangements in the capital city to maintain law and order.
At a media conference, Bhubaneswar DCP Saravana Vivek M said that extensive police deployment has been planned across the Urban Police District (UPD) to prevent any untoward incident. As many as 18 platoons of police force will be stationed at strategic and vulnerable points across the city.
Heavy police presence will be ensured at major traffic junctions, government offices, railway station, bus terminals, educational institutions, markets and other commercial establishments. Senior officers in the rank of ACP and IICs will directly supervise patrolling, picketing and crowd control measures to ensure that normal life is not affected and emergency services function smoothly.
The DCP said police will act tough against those trying to enforce bandh forcibly, block roads, shut down shops or damage public property. PCR vans, Quick Response Teams and striking forces have been kept ready. Reserve forces will also be on standby to meet any exigency.
Commuters have been advised to cooperate with police and plan their travel, while police control room will monitor the situation round the clock.
