Rairangpur: The All India Ho Language Action Committee has submitted a two-point demand memorandum to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi through the Rairangpur Sub-Collector, seeking inclusion of the Ho language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution and its recognition as the second official language of Odisha.
Sitaram Challa, a representative of the committee, said its members had been staging protests, sit-ins and processions for a long time to press for the two demands, but they were yet to be fulfilled.
The memorandum was submitted to the Sub-Collector on Friday for onward transmission to the Chief Minister.
Among those present during the submission were J. Singh, Ghanashyam Pingua, Matka Birua, Parbati Birua, Madhab Soren, Matha Soren, Bikash Bagal, Anil Kumar Birua, Krishna Chandra Hansda, Rajendra Purti, Ramchandra Mohan Pingua, Anupama Chandra Tudu, Rameswar Kondangkel, Meghnad Hembram, Shib Shankar Murmu, Jataya Swayanya and Tikun Jerai, along with other members of the committee.
