Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and First Lady Jayashree Kambhampati visited Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur on Saturday on the occasion of Mahalaya and offered prayers to the goddess.
The Governor prayed for prosperity, happiness and well-being of the people of the state.On the occasion of Mahalaya, Maa Samaleswari was adorned in the holy Dhabalmukhi Besha.
Thousands of devotees thronged the temple to have darshan of the goddess in this special Besha. Known as the main spiritual centre of western Odisha, the temple witnessed special religious fervour on Mahalaya.
Earlier in the day, the Governor also visited Hirakud Dam and inspected the massive dam built on the Mahanadi river and its vast reservoir.
