Anugola: An Additional District and Sessions Court in Anugola has sentenced Jiban Behera of Bangalitala village to rigorous life imprisonment for murdering his wife and severing her head in June 2021.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Satyanarayan Kar pronounced the verdict after examining the evidence presented during the trial.
According to the prosecution, Behera attacked his wife, Hina Behera, with a sharp weapon on June 4, 2021, severed her head and kept it in a polythene bag.
Following a complaint lodged by their son, Maheswar Behera, Talacher police registered a murder case and investigated the incident. The police subsequently filed a chargesheet against the accused under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
The court examined 23 witnesses produced by the prosecution before convicting Behera and sentencing him to rigourous life imprisonment.
