Bhubaneswar: A student candidate contesting for Assistant Secretary of the Boys’ Common Room at Narsingh Choudhury College in Jajpur district has reportedly gone missing, triggering tension ahead of the student union elections.
The missing student has been identified as Biswajit Sahu. He has been missing from his hostel since Tuesday. His absence was noticed during the “Why I Stand For” meeting where he was scheduled to speak.
His father has lodged a complaint at Jajpur Town Police Station alleging kidnapping. In his complaint, the father stated that his son had called home on Tuesday saying there was a threat to his life. The call was made around 12 noon, after which his mobile phone was switched off.
“We suspect that his opponent party has kidnapped him. He was threatened and a fake video was made showing him going home. However, he is not at home. We don’t know his whereabouts,” the father alleged in the complaint.
He further alleged that a video was made of his son after threatening him. “I request the government to rescue my son safely,” the father said.
Police said an inquiry has been initiated based on the complaint.
