Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, has made the installation of CCTV cameras mandatory in higher secondary schools to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the annual Plus II examinations in 2027.
The council has directed all higher secondary schools to install CCTV cameras in examination halls, strong rooms, centre superintendents’ offices and laboratories by November 30, 2026.
In a letter issued on Wednesday, CHSE Controller of Examinations Prasanta Kumar Parida asked the principals of all higher secondary schools in the state to ensure compliance with the directive and make necessary arrangements for live streaming of the Plus II annual examinations.
The council has also instructed institutions to check the functionality of CCTV cameras installed earlier and ensure that the systems are operational ahead of the examinations.
Schools that have applied for new examination centres must install CCTV cameras in their examination halls and the rooms of centre superintendents within the stipulated deadline.
Warning of strict action against non-compliant institutions, the CHSE said failure to install CCTV systems and meet other requirements by November 30 could lead to the cancellation of examination centres for both theory and practical examinations. The council may also report the defaulting institutions to the state government for appropriate action, the letter stated.
