Bhubaneswar: Gujarat and Odisha are exploring opportunities to link Odisha’s established metals and minerals industries with Gujarat’s semiconductor, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing sectors, as the state steps up preparations for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027.

The discussions took place during a roadshow for the summit at Vivanta in Bhubaneswar, which brought together industry representatives and government officials to explore investment opportunities, technology partnerships and cooperation between businesses in the two states.

Ahead of the roadshow, Gujarat Minister of State for Industries and MSMEs, Jayram Gamit, and Lochan Sehra, Secretary in the Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department, held meetings with representatives of companies and institutions.

The discussions focused on strengthening industrial ties and identifying opportunities for businesses and institutions in Odisha to engage with Gujarat.

Addressing the gathering, Gamit highlighted the complementary industrial strengths of the two states, pointing to Odisha’s established minerals, metals and aluminium industries and Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure, ports, semiconductor ecosystem, renewable energy capacity and global connectivity.

“Odisha has established itself as a leading centre for Minerals, Metal and aluminum. Gujarat brings its own strengths in industrial infrastructure, ports, semiconductors, renewable energy and global connectivity. I firmly believe that by bringing together our industries, entrepreneurs and young talent, we can create new opportunities for innovation, employment and shared prosperity. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our collective efforts will further strengthen the journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’,” he said.

According to the Gujarat government, the state accounts for 17 per cent of India’s manufacturing output and 25 per cent of its merchandise exports.

The roadshow highlighted the scope for connecting Odisha’s industrial base with Gujarat’s expanding semiconductor, advanced manufacturing and logistics sectors.

The programme also featured a presentation on VGGS 2027 by Sehra and a screening showcasing Gujarat’s semiconductor ecosystem, textiles and renewable energy sector.

Industry representatives shared their experiences and perspectives on business opportunities and industrial development in the state.

The 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is scheduled to be held in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12, 2027.

The summit’s theme is “Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future”.

The Gujarat government has invited businesses, start-ups and industry institutions from Odisha to participate in the summit and explore partnerships aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation and inter-state supply chains.
