Sambalpur: A professor of Sambalpur University was allegedly stabbed by a retired university employee inside the Chemistry Department on Friday.
The injured professor has been identified as Dr Satya Narayan Sahu, Head of the Department (HoD) of Chemistry. He sustained injuries in the attack and was admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, for treatment.
According to reports, the accused, a retired sweeper of the university, allegedly entered the Chemistry Department and attacked Sahu with a knife. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Burla police reached the university campus and initiated an investigation.
The accused has reportedly been detained for questioning.
Further investigation is underway.
