Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Andaman Sea, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, the low pressure area that existed yesterday has further concentrated and developed into a well-marked low pressure area today. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The system is currently moving in a west-northwestward direction. It is expected to intensify further into a depression over the same region during the next 12 hours. Thereafter, while maintaining its direction of movement, the system is likely to intensify further and come close to the Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal by the evening of November 2.
IMD is continuously monitoring the system’s progress and will issue further updates as it evolves.
Residents along the Andhra Pradesh and nearby coastal areas have been advised to stay alert and follow official weather advisories.
