Kataka: Shri Guru Bhagabata, authored by Revered Guruji Dr. Chandrabhanu Satpathy, is steadily emerging as a symbol of Odia Asmita.

Containing more than 38,000 lines, the scripture has been published up to nine volumes in Odia so far and has been translated into 25 regional languages.

This contemporary and psychologically uplifting scripture aims at character and mental development of people across all age groups and strata of society. Shri Guru Bhagabat Tungi, Gopalpur has been organizing programmes based on the scripture at streets, maths, temples, Panchasakha Peethas, schools, universities, colleges and major jails of Odisha, teaching core principles of Guru-Shishya parampara, Karma Tatwa, Bhakti Tatwa, Gyana Tatwa, Grahastha Jiban and family bonding.

As part of this initiative, Shri Guru Bhagabata programmes were recently organized in three de-addiction centres of Cuttack – Paribartan, CDA Sector-7 on October 31, Peace Alcohol DDC, Mukameswar on November 2, and O-Project Swarajya, Fakirpada (under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India) on November 4.

During the programmes, members of the Tungi explained how Guru-intoxication or God-intoxication can lead a person to the right path instead of drug addiction and how one can free oneself from addiction. They discussed how consumption of intoxicating substances not only harms the individual but also adversely affects society, family and children, and deliberated on the path to liberation. The subject has been described in detail by the author Dr. Chandrabhanu Satpathy in the ninth volume of Shri Guru Bhagabata.

According to the author, Guru principles help in building and reforming one’s character along with society and family. By taking the ideals and teachings of a spiritual Guru as a guiding principle, a person can stay away from drugs, bring inner transformation and live with dignity in society.

Dr. Satpathy has composed many philosophical chapters on atonement for committed karma, dharma, fulfilling duties and responsibilities by considering parents as the first Guru of life, various levels of spiritual journey, and attaining gradual liberation by awakening inner soul power and merging into the infinite.

The programmes were conducted by members of the Tungi including Anasuya Ray, Renuprabha Nayak (Additional Secretary, Works Department, Govt. of Odisha), Pratigya Das, Supriya Mohanty, Shaswati Samal, Rita Ray, Sanchita Rath, Supriya Patnaik, Priyambada Mohanty, Sujita Das, Lopamudra Bohidar, Sunita Dash, Ranjita Pal, Mamata Sahu, Charulata Swain and Rajani Nayak.

The programme began with Anasuya Ray reading out and conveying Guruji’s blessings, followed by a detailed discussion on ill-effects of addiction and the path to liberation from it.
