Puri: A pickup truck allegedly transporting beef was intercepted by local residents near Raigarpur Chack under Gadisagoda police station limits in Puri district on Sunday.
According to reports, the vehicle was travelling from Puri towards Rameswar when locals stopped it on suspicion of carrying beef. They subsequently alerted the police, following which Gadisagoda police personnel reached the spot, seized the vehicle and detained its driver, who reportedly hails from another state.
The incident comes days after Gadisagoda police seized suspected beef from a vehicle bearing Andhra Pradesh registration near Chupuring Chack.
The repeated incidents have raised concerns among local residents over alleged transportation of beef from Puri district to other states. They have urged the police to intensify surveillance and take stringent action to prevent such activities.
