Jayapur: Jayapur MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati has alleged large-scale electoral irregularities in the Kotia region, claiming that people from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh were brought in to cast fake votes. He has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.
Bahinipati alleged that the person who contested the election in the area did not even exercise his own voting right, while people from outside Odisha were allegedly allowed to cast votes.
Describing the alleged irregularities as a serious threat to democratic values and the credibility of the electoral process, the Congress MLA called for an impartial and transparent investigation to establish the facts.
He demanded stringent action against those found guilty and corrective measures to prevent electoral malpractice in future.
