Sundargarh: Former sarapanch of Kinjirikela panchayat in Sundargarh district was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment by a special vigilance court in a corruption case.
The vigilance court also directed Rama Chandra Minz to pay a fine of Rs 2,000, in default of payment, he would undergo two months more imprisonment.
The Court further awarded him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and payment of fine of Rs 1,000. He would undergo one month more imprisonment in default of the fine.
Both the sentences are to run concurrently, the court clarified.
Rama Chandra Minz was arrested by vigilance in 2016 for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for the issuance of work order in favor of his mother (an IAY beneficiary) to construct IAY house.
