Bangalore: Marvell Technology on Wednesday announced plans to invest $250 million in India over the next three years to expand its research and development capabilities, engineering talent and infrastructure, reinforcing the country’s growing role in the global semiconductor industry.

The investment coincides with the company’s 20th anniversary of operations in India and includes plans to double its workforce over the next three years.

As part of the expansion, Marvell is inaugurating a new wing at its Bengaluru office while also increasing its presence in Hyderabad to support the design and development of advanced semiconductor solutions for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and data infrastructure applications.

Navin Bishnoi, Vice President and India Country Manager at Marvell, said India has evolved into a strategic engineering hub for the company, playing a critical role in developing infrastructure technologies used by leading hyperscalers and cloud service providers worldwide.

“India has become a strategic hub of engineering excellence for Marvell, playing a critical role in advancing the infrastructure technologies that power the world’s leading hyperscalers and cloud providers,” Bishnoi stated.

“We are grateful to our customers, partners, government collaborators, academic institutions and especially our exceptional team, whose innovation, expertise and dedication have been instrumental to the growth and success of Marvell in India,” he added.

Marvell established its India operations in Bengaluru in 2006 and has since grown the country into its second-largest research and development organisation globally.

The company now operates engineering centres in Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, where teams work on advanced semiconductor technologies, including 2-nanometre process nodes and beyond, high-speed analog intellectual property, subsystem design, software and firmware development, and end-to-end silicon engineering.

According to the company, its India teams contribute across multiple technology platforms, hold numerous patents and are increasingly leveraging advanced artificial intelligence tools to improve engineering productivity and accelerate product innovation.

Beyond expanding its engineering capabilities, Marvell said it continues to invest in India’s broader semiconductor ecosystem through collaborations with universities, startups, industry associations and government organisations.
