Rajasthan's Dholpur

Dholpur: In a tragic incident in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district, three sisters died after drowning in a pond while attempting to save their brother, who had fallen into the deep water, on Sunday morning. All four died.

The deaths of four members of the same family left the entire village shocked and plunged their relatives into grief.

The incident occurred in Dhaundh Birja village, under the Angai police station area of Dholpur district. The family members had arrived near the village to visit the Hiraman Baba Temple, a local folk deity, on the occasion of Dauj, a festival observed after Raksha Bandhan.

According to the information, three sisters had gone to the temple to offer prayers while their brother went towards a nearby pond to take a bath. When the sisters could no longer see their brother and realised that he was in the water, they rushed towards the pond and found him drowning. In an attempt to rescue him, all three sisters entered the pond.

The brother and the three sisters drowned because of the depth and high water level in the pond.

As news of the incident spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot and informed the police about the tragedy.

The brother has been identified as 23-year-old Bholu alias Ravi, a resident of Nathua Pura. According to officials, Bholu was near the pond and was taking a selfie on his mobile phone when he suddenly lost his footing and fell into the deep water.

After seeing Bholu struggling in the pond, his sisters Manorama and Boto, along with their cousin Nisha, immediately jumped into the water in an attempt to save him. However, because of the high water level and depth of the pond, the three women also drowned.

Family members were left horrified after learning that all four had fallen into the pond.

With assistance from local divers and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police recovered all four bodies from the pond.

The bodies were subsequently taken to the government hospital in Sarmathura, where postmortems were conducted in the presence of family members.

After completion of the postmortem procedures, the bodies were handed over to their respective families.

Those who lost their lives in the incident have been identified as 30-year-old Manorama, a resident of Mauhari Tajpur; 36-year-old Boto, a resident of Ramratan Ka Pura; 21-year-old Nisha, a resident of Nathua Pura; and 23-year-old Bholu alias Ravi, a resident of Nathua Pura.
