Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national working president and Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav took stock of erosion-prone areas in his constituency, Raghopur, on Sunday amid rising water levels in the Ganga River. He also inspected some flood-hit areas in the constituency.

The RJD leader assessed the threat of floods and erosion looming over the riverside villages and obtained detailed information about the ground situation from the concerned officials. During the inspection, Tejashwi observed the conditions on the ground arising out of the continuous rise in Ganga water level.

He gathered information from officials regarding water levels, the extent of erosion, and areas facing potential risk. He interacted with local residents to understand their problems and concerns.

Tejashwi Yadav is also understood to have instructed officials to maintain constant vigilance over the water level and erosion situation.

He stated that the administrative machinery must remain in a state of high alert, given the potential danger and remain on standby for immediate action in the event of an emergency. He directed the concerned officials and engineers to keep a close watch on erosion in the riverside areas and also initiate anti-erosion measures wherever necessary.

The RJD leader issued instructions to officials to maintain better coordination with local villagers and to provide them with essential information promptly.

Tejashwi urged officials to treat the situation with seriousness and to strengthen administrative preparedness in vulnerable areas.

He emphasised the need to ensure the availability of resources required to tackle potential floods and erosion, as well as to have arrangements in place to provide immediate assistance to affected people.

Notably, the Raghopur region faces the challenge of floods and erosion every year, owing to its geographical location and being surrounded by the river throughout the year.

Villagers in the riverside areas are increasingly concerned over the rising water level in their vicinity. Tejashwi Yadav’s visit is seen as a positive move to activate the administration while signalling them to stay alert for any exigency.
