Patna: In a tragic accident, a 25-year-old youth died after he fell from a moving “Tsunami” swing when his safety belt allegedly came loose during the ride at the Rajgir Malmas Fair in Bihar’s Nalanda.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

The deceased was identified as Aman Kumar, son of Vipin Kumar and a resident of Mikku village under the jurisdiction of the Nardiganj Police Station in Nawada district.

According to an official, Aman had visited the fair with family members and relatives on Monday night.

His cousin Prince was accompanying him at the time of the incident that took place around 11.50 p.m. on Monday.

Prince said that both of them decided to ride the “Tsunami” swing after purchasing tickets at the fair.

Shortly after the ride began, Aman allegedly lost balance when his safety belt opened, causing him to fall from the moving swing and suffer critical injuries.

With the help of local residents, police rushed the injured youth to the Rajgir Sub-Divisional Hospital for emergency treatment.

After initial medical care, he was referred to Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences in Pawapuri for advanced treatment.

However, due to his deteriorating condition, doctors referred him onward to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). Aman Kumar died while being transported there.

Confirming the incident, Sanjit Kumar Gupta, the SDPO of Rajgir, said police have seized the Tsunami swing and initiated legal action against the ride operator under relevant sections of law.

He also stated that a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory has been called to investigate the incident.

As a precautionary measure following the fatal accident, authorities have suspended the operation of all major swings and amusement rides at the fair until further notice.

The incident has sparked serious concerns regarding safety standards and maintenance arrangements at amusement rides operating during large public fairs in Bihar.
