Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and invited him for the inauguration of Bhogapuram International Airport.

Accompanied by Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu and TDP parliamentary party leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, the Chief Minister called on the Prime Minister at Parliament House.

“Honoured to meet Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji in New Delhi today. I had the privilege of inviting the Hon’ble Prime Minister to Andhra Pradesh for the inauguration of Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, Bhogapuram,” Chandrababu Naidu posted on X.

The Chief Minister stated that named after the legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju Garu, the airport stands as a tribute to his enduring legacy of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism.

The TDP president said that under the visionary and reform-driven leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India’s civil aviation sector has witnessed a remarkable transformation.

“His vision of making air travel accessible and affordable has enabled millions of our citizens to fulfil their dream of flying. The inauguration of this airport will give wings to the aspirations of Uttar Andhra, unlocking new opportunities for connectivity, tourism, trade, and economic growth. Guided by his leadership, India is steadily advancing towards the goal of Viksit Bharat. Andhra Pradesh remains committed to contributing meaningfully to this journey by building a Swarna Andhra Pradesh,” added Chandrababu Naidu.

The Chief Minister had earlier announced that Bhogapuram Airport will be inaugurated on August 1.

Along with the inauguration of the passenger terminal building, the Prime Minister will also formally inaugurate the GMR Skill Development Centre, the Aviation Hub-University and the GMR-MANSAS Edu City.

Describing the airport as a landmark project for North Andhra, the Chief Minister said it would serve as a logistics hub, provide global connectivity and become a game changer for Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth.

The Chief Minister directed officials to honour the farmers and landowners who contributed land for the project by providing them with a one-time complimentary air travel opportunity.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the event, the Chief Minister asked officials to make comprehensive arrangements, including traffic diversions, dedicated parking facilities and robust security. He also directed that adequate amenities should be provided for the public attending the meeting.
