Chhattisgarh: Police Recover Over Rs 1 Crore Cash, Massive Arms Cache In Naxal-Hit Narayanpur

Raipur/Narayanpur: Security forces in Naxal-hit Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh) have recovered over Rs 1 crore in cash and a staggering quantity of sophisticated weaponry during a high-intensity joint operation.

The success was achieved under the banner of the “Mad Bachao Abhiyan” (Save Maad Campaign). The breakthrough marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to eradicate Naxalism from the region. This operation, fuelled by a robust intelligence network and the active cooperation of local villagers, underscores the growing momentum of peace and development in areas once considered inaccessible strongholds.

Robinson Guriya, the Superintendent of Police for Narayanpur, confirmed that the joint teams comprising the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, ITBP, and BSF executed the mission across remote and sensitive terrains.

The primary objective was to detect and dismantle hidden dumps used by Naxals for storing arms and funds. The most striking find was the seizure of cash totalling 1,10,64,000 rupees, which is believed to be a central part of the insurgents’ financial network, the officer said.

The technical and military recovery was equally significant, involving 28 different types of Naxal-related materials. Among the seized arsenal were three AK-47 rifles, three SLR rifles, and an assortment of INSAS and .303 weaponry. The forces also confiscated hundreds of live cartridges, numerous magazines, and two improvised BGL launchers accompanied by over one hundred shells.

The recovery of electronic detonators, several bundles of cordex wire, and five kilograms of saltpetre (potassium nitrate) indicates a major disruption to the insurgents’ capability to manufacture improvised explosive devices, he said.

Furthermore, the seizure of high-grade communication equipment, including “Motorola sets” and “Baofeng walkie-talkies,” has effectively severed critical coordination lines.

The officer further said the recovery of 270 weapons within the 2025-26 period alone demonstrates the effectiveness of the current security strategy against Maoism in the region.

As the search and area domination operations continue, the police have urged the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious materials hidden in the forests.

This successful operation not only cripples the logistical and arms supply chain of the Naxals but also reinforces the authority of the state in its mission to establish lasting stability in the region.
