CJP Alleges Rajasthan Police Harassing Students Linked To NEET Protest; Warns Of Fresh Agitation

Jaipur: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Monday accused the Rajasthan Police of harassing students who participated in protests against the NEET paper leak, claiming that despite an agreement to withdraw cases, police personnel are still visiting students’ homes and summoning them over phone.

The organisation warned that it would launch a fresh agitation if the alleged harassment does not stop.

In a video statement, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka stated that members of the organisation’s core team in Rajasthan were being targeted by the police.

“The police are repeatedly visiting the homes of some members of our core team in Rajasthan and harassing them through phone calls. We also expect the Central Government to soon make public the written agreement that was reached,” Ranka said.

Ranka urged both the Centre and the Rajasthan government to honour the agreement reached on July 25 regarding the withdrawal of cases against protesting students.

He claimed that governments in other states had already acted on similar assurances. “The Bihar government has withdrawn all cases registered against students, while all FIRs have also been withdrawn in West Bengal. The Central and State governments should stop targeting students and honour the agreement reached on July 25,” he said.

The CJP warned that if police continue to visit students’ homes and contact them despite the agreement, the organisation would be compelled to resume protests.

The NEET paper leak protests had witnessed participation from students across Rajasthan and all across India. Several students travelled to Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to join demonstrations, while protests and sit-ins were also organised in Jaipur and other cities.

In Jaipur, CJP supporters staged demonstrations at Jawahar Circle for several days. The Rajasthan Police has not yet issued an official response to the allegations made by the CJP.
