Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has reported the formation of a fresh upper air cyclonic circulation over the south Andaman Sea and its neighbourhood. The system was observed at 0300 UTC today and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Satellite observations show scattered to broken low and medium clouds with embedded intense to very intense convection lying over the central and south Bay of Bengal as well as the Andaman Sea.
Scattered low to medium clouds with embedded moderate to intense convection are also present over the North Bay of Bengal.
This development points to significant convective activity across the region, which is likely to bring increased rainfall, thunderstorms, and rough sea conditions in the coming days. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands may experience enhanced rainfall along with strong winds, while fishermen and maritime activities in the Bay of Bengal are advised to remain cautious due to rough seas.
