Malkangiri: As many as eight Maoists and one security personnel were killed in an exchange of fire at Abujhamad forest in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, said officials.
Police launched an inter-district joint anti-Naxal operation in Kutul, Farasbeda, Kodtamdata areas of Abujhmad region. Eight Naxalites have been killed in the joint operation. Around 900 soldiers of Narayanpur-Kondagaon-Kanker-Dantewada DRG, STF and ITBP 53rd Battalion were involved in the operation, officials added.
The fierce gun battle was going on for the past two days. The forces have been conducting operations in the dense forests of Abujhmad for last three days, an official statement informed.
Just last week, seven Naxalites were killed and three jawans injured in an encounter in Narayanpur. Officials said that the gunfight took place near Gobel and Thulthuli villages in Orchha area. A joint team of security personnel carried out the anti-Naxalite operation.
