Fear Psychosis Not Going To Work In Bengal, Says Trinamool MP Saayoni Ghosh

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Saayoni Ghosh on Thursday accused the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of using “fear psychosis” in West Bengal and said that such a thing is not going to work in the state.

Her reaction came after Trinamool supremo and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee complained of being assaulted by a section of lawyers at the Calcutta High Court premises.

Talking to IANS, Saayoni Ghosh said: “This is the culture of BJP. Mamata Banerjee was the Chief Minister of West Bengal. She will be the Chief Minister again in the future.”

She alleged that the former Chief Minister was “heckled” outside the court.

“If anyone has committed a theft, prove it and then put them in jail. Fear psychosis is not going to work,” she asserted.

Addressing the BJP, Ghosh also said: “You can run all this in Assam and Uttar Pradesh but you can’t run all this in Bengal.”

The Trinamool MP also responded to the demolition drive that has been undertaken by the BJP government in the state against illegal constructions.

“Let the people of Bengal see if they want a culture of bulldozers or not. If they want a culture of bulldozers, then BJP will remain. And if they want a culture of peace, then Mamata Banerjee will come back to power,” she said.

Asked whether Mamata Banerjee took permission to practice as an advocate, Ghosh said: “Did BJP take permission for ‘vote chori’?”

“Wherever and however Mamata Banerjee has to go in order to ensure welfare for the people, she will go,” the Trinamool MP asserted.

Earlier on Thursday, when the former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was leaving the court premises, a section of the advocates started shouting slogans addressing her as a “thief”.

Some people in the crowd among the advocates and common people were also heard using abusive comments at the former Chief Minister.

“They have assaulted me,” Mamata Banerjee told the waiting media persons, pointing at the agitated crowd. Later, she left the court premises.
