Goons, Mafia And Maulanas Will Sweep Bengal Streets If BJP Wins: Yogi Adityanath

Asansol: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday mounted a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) during a public rally in West Bengal’s Asansol, asserting that “goons and mafia will be sweeping the streets of Bengal” if the BJP comes to power in the state.

Addressing a large gathering in support of BJP candidate Arijit Roy in the Barabani Assembly constituency, Chief Minister Adityanath said a “double-engine government” would ensure rapid development, strong law and order, and an end to what he described as TMC’s “mafia raj”.

The rally saw a heavy turnout, with enthusiastic supporters climbing rooftops, vehicles and trees to catch a glimpse of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.

Targeting the ruling TMC, Adityanath urged voters not to be intimidated, alleging that TMC workers tried to disrupt the event by removing BJP flags and pressuring supporters.

“Do not be afraid of anyone. When the BJP forms the government, those who create fear today will be seen serving the people,” the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.

Referring to BJP candidate Arijit Roy, CM Adityanath said the name signifies one who defeats enemies and appealed to voters to elect him to ensure the defeat of the TMC.

He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, a BJP government would resolve Bengal’s problems at “double speed”.

He accused the TMC of pushing Bengal into an atmosphere of fear, corruption and lawlessness over the past 15 years.

He alleged that sand, coal and land mafias have flourished in West Bengal and that funds sent by the Centre for development were being misused.

Drawing a comparison with Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Adityanath said the situation there has transformed significantly under BJP rule.

“Earlier, riots were frequent, crime was rampant and people felt unsafe. Today, there is peace, development, and strict action against mafia elements,” he said, adding that properties of criminals are being used for welfare schemes.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also touched upon religious and cultural issues, asserting that the BJP would not allow cow slaughter and would ensure unity among Hindus.

“There will be no riots or curfew. Law and order will be firmly established,” he said.

He also criticised Congress, Left parties and TMC, accusing them of creating an “identity crisis” in Bengal and turning a once culturally rich and economically strong state into a centre of crime and corruption.

Chief Minister Adityanath claimed farmers were not getting fair prices and alleged a decline in agricultural output.

Highlighting Bengal’s legacy, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said West Bengal has historically guided the nation and produced several great thinkers and freedom fighters.

He urged voters to “free Bengal from anarchy” and restore its past glory.

Reiterating BJP’s poll promises, Yogi Adityanath said the party is committed to ensuring safety, prosperity and development in West Bengal if voted to power.
