New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested three more accused in connection with the IED explosion at Police Station Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh on January 1, taking the total number of arrests in the case to six.
The blast occurred at around 9:40 a.m. near the outer wall adjoining the room of the investigating officer inside the Nalagarh police station premises. The incident was initially registered as FIR No. 02/2026 at Police Station Nalagarh.
The investigation was later taken over by the NIA, which re-registered the case on May 8, 2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to the NIA, the investigation has established the involvement of three additional accused — Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandola, a resident of Rahon in Punjab’s SBS Nagar district; Karanpartap, also from Rahon; and Diljot Saini, a resident of Jhansi Park Colony on Nawanshehar Road, Rahon.
All three were arrested by the NIA in the Nalagarh case. They were already in custody in connection with FIR No. 11/2026 registered at Police Station Garhshankar in Punjab.
Earlier, the agency had arrested Mahavir Kumar alias Kaka, Ajay Mehra and Manpreet Singh alias Mani. The three had initially been arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with FIR No. 02/2026 of the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Mohali, before being arrested by the NIA in the Nalagarh case.
The latest arrests are part of the agency’s ongoing probe into the larger conspiracy behind the attack. The NIA is examining the precise roles of the accused, their links with one another and the wider network allegedly associated with the incident.
The agency said further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved and uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and criminal network.
