Nitish Kumar Forms 24-Member Team Of JD-U At National Level To Revitalise Party

Patna: Nitish Kumar, after stepping down as the Bihar Chief Minister and moving to the Rajya Sabha, has now shifted his full focus toward strengthening the organisational structure of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U).

In a significant move aimed at revitalising the party, JD-U on Wednesday announced a new national team comprising 24 leaders.

Nitish Kumar himself will serve as the party’s President, while Sanjay Kumar Jha has been appointed as the National Working President.

Among key appointments, Chandeshwar Chandravanshi, a former MP from Jehanabad, has been named the JD-U Vice President, while Alok Kumar Suman will take charge as the party’s Treasurer.

The list of General Secretaries includes several prominent leaders such as Manish Kumar Verma, Afaq Ahmed Khan, Shyam Rajak, Ashok Choudhary, Ramesh Singh Kushwaha, Ram Sevak Singh, Kahkashan Perween, Kapil Harishchandra Patil, Raj Singh, Sunil Kumar, Harshvardhan Singh, and Ghulam Rasool Balyavi.

Additionally, leaders like Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, Ravindra Prasad Singh, Vidya Sagar Nishad, Dayanand Rai, Sanjay Kumar, Mohammad Nisar, Ruhi Tagung, and Nivedita Kumari have been appointed as Secretaries.

This organisational reshuffle comes shortly after a Legislative Party meeting held on April 20, where Nitish Kumar was granted full authority to take key decisions in the party’s interest.

As part of these changes, he also appointed Shravan Kumar as the JD-U Legislative Party leader in the Bihar Assembly.

The developments signal Nitish Kumar’s renewed focus on consolidating the party structure and preparing JD-U for future political challenges.

Nishant Kumar, the son of Nitish Kumar, is set to embark on a statewide yatra across Bihar from May 3.

The move is being seen as a significant step toward establishing his presence in active politics.

Through this yatra, Nishant Kumar aims to directly connect with people across the state and mobilise grassroots support for the JD-U.

The outreach campaign is expected to cover multiple districts, focusing on public interaction, and strengthening the party’s organisational base.

More importantly, the yatra is being viewed as an attempt by Nishant Kumar to assert his political relevance — both among the people and within the party structure.

While he has largely stayed away from active politics so far, this initiative signals a possible shift toward a more visible and engaged role in Bihar’s political landscape.
