One More Maoist Killed, IED Defused, Some Naxal Suspects Detained In Chhattisgarh

Malkangiri: One more Maoist was killed in an encounter with security forces in a forest along the Narayanpur-Bijapur in Chhattisgarh. The security forces were returning with seven bodies of naxals who were shot dead by the security forces on Thursday while the gun-battle with Maoists on the way.

Seven Maoists were killed on Thursday while another was shot dead today.

Security personnel were returning to their base after yesterday’s encounter when Naxalites opened fire at the patrolling team of the Special Task Force. The security forces too retaliated in which one rebel was killed.

During the return of the police team, the Maoists had planted a 15 kg IED with an aim to cause harm to the security forces, which was safely destroyed on the spot by the security forces. To escape from security forces, the Maoists changed their uniforms and wore civilian clothes. During the siege, some suspects have been caught. They were brought to the district headquarters for questioning and further action.

The security forces gunned down seven extremists in a gun-battle the Pallewaya-Handawada area along the Bijapur-Narayanpur border on Thursday.

The bodies of the Maoists in ‘uniform’ were recovered from the spot.
