Prashant Kishor Targets Bihar Govt, Announces Education And Jobs In Bankipur

Patna: After the Bihar Government decided to provide financial assistance and a government job to a family member of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, Prashant Kishor, Chief of Jan Suraaj Party and MLA, said the decision was a positive development but did not amount to complete justice.

He argued that genuine justice would require identifying and taking action against those who allegedly ordered and carried out the firing.

“The judicial inquiry should establish individual responsibility and ensure that those found guilty face legal consequences,” he said.

Kishor also questioned why similar assistance should not be extended to the families of other young people who have died in police encounters. He specifically mentioned Bunty Yadav’s family, arguing that relief should not be limited to one case for political reasons.

Prashant Kishor’s statement came after he visited residents of Ward No. 16 of the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna and thanked voters for his decisive victory. Supporters celebrated the occasion by weighing him against laddus, following which Kishor addressed the gathering.

He said that a government job and financial compensation cannot by themselves compensate a family for the loss of a loved one. He maintained that accountability for the alleged police action was the more important issue.

Kishor also used the occasion to attack Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, claiming that the Bankipur election result had changed the Government’s approach to encounters.

He alleged that the Government was now under greater pressure to address questions surrounding police encounters. He said that the Bankipur result had contributed to the Government’s decision regarding Tiwari’s family.

Kishor also raised concerns about private-school fees, alleging that high charges, including re-admission and uniform-related expenses, are burdening families.

He said he plans to meet school administrators and work towards reducing fees, with the issue of children’s education remaining one of his priorities.

Kishor promised that government schools in the Bankipur area would see a qualitative improvement by next year’s Dussehra.

He said that if the promised improvement does not materialise, he would personally take responsibility for enrolling children from the affected families in private schools and paying their fees.

Kishor also reiterated his commitment to employment in Bankipur.

He said he intends to facilitate employment for at least one educated person from each of 10,000 families in the constituency, particularly targeting educated youths who are currently unemployed.

The announcement builds on his earlier pledge to connect 10,000 Bankipur youths with private sector employment, making employment, education and public accountability central themes of his initial political programme as the newly elected MLA.
