Chandigarh: Punjab BJP President Kewal Dhillon on Friday accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state of incompetence, corruption, and playing with the future of the youth, stating that these incidents expose the hollowness of the government’s claims of “change”.
Dhillon questioned the government’s handling of the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) Group-B recruitment paper leak case and its silence over the high-tech cheating racket uncovered during the recruitment of Pharmacy Officers in Faridkot.
He said the Group-B recruitment examination conducted by the selection board for appointments to various government departments was compromised due to a paper leak. Even after six months, the investigation has failed to reach any logical conclusion, which reflected the government’s corruption and gross administrative failure.
He alleged that the government has jeopardised the future of nearly one lakh aspirants and has maintained complete silence on the matter.
Referring to the pharmacy recruitment cheating scandal, Dhillon alleged that government jobs were virtually being sold by charging candidates between Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 13 lakh through the use of pen cameras and Bluetooth devices inside examination centres.
The absence of signal jammers at examination centres, he said, exposed the government’s failure to ensure a fair examination process.
He questioned why AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and the Punjab government, which frequently claim to uphold “staunch honesty”, remained silent on such sensitive issues.
He demanded the immediate resignation of both Health and Education Ministers.
Dhillon said the government’s dishonesty now “stands exposed before the people and that Punjabis are ready to teach this government a lesson for compromising the future of the state’s youth”.
He added that, in contrast, the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi acted promptly in the NEET case by ordering a CBI investigation, leading to the arrest of 13 accused.
The Punjab BJP chief said fast-track courts have been set up to ensure strict punishment for the guilty, and legislation is also being introduced in Parliament to provide stringent penalties in such cases. He asserted that the BJP-led Central government is taking every possible step to safeguard the future of the country’s youth.
