Rahul’s Mockery Of Modi Govt’s Foreign Policy Draws Flak From BJP, JD(U)

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi’s mockery of Modi government’s foreign policy has drawn all-round criticism, with leaders from across the spectrum calling his actions abominable and in poor taste. Many BJP and JD(U) leaders said such distasteful conduct by the person holding a responsible constitutional position were extremely unfortunate, serious, and a matter of concern.

The criticism came on back of Rahul Gandhi taking a swipe at country’s foreign policy, suggesting that PM Modi’s diplomacy is only associated with hugging the foreign leaders.

Speaking to IANS, Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said, “The way Rahul Gandhi and Sandip Dikshit conducted themselves in yesterday’s incident on the open stage is extremely unfortunate, serious, and a matter of concern. You may oppose the Prime Minister and NDA government; you are in the Opposition… The world has seen, for the first time, such a weak and irresponsible Opposition leader.”

BJP Bihar president Sanjay Saraogi said, “Regarding the Prime Minister’s foreign policy, the way Rahul Gandhi, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has made comments clearly reflects his lack of values, vulgarity, and indecency. The kind of indecent remarks made by the Leader of the Opposition regarding the country’s foreign policy cannot be tolerated by the people of the country under any circumstances. This appears to be the height of Rahul Gandhi’s low conduct. The way he has made remarks about the country and Rahul Gandhi himself raises questions about his values.”

BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal said, “Rahul Gandhi himself does not understand what he speaks. The kind of low-level conduct and vulgar language used by Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of the Opposition clearly shows what kind of character and mindset he has. And this is the reason why they have been sitting in the Opposition for the last 15 years…”

JD(U) National General Secretary Shyam Rajak said, “The behaviour displayed is against Indian culture, and the more it is condemned, the less it is. By making such remarks, he seems to think that he will establish himself among the people. He travels abroad and makes all kinds of unwarranted remarks…”

JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said, “Rahul Gandhi has been a member of the House for a long time, but his person lacks the seriousness expected of a Member of Parliament. The way he tried to turn his conversation with a colleague about the Italian Prime Minister into a joke reflects the immaturity of the Leader of the Opposition. Perhaps this is the main reason why many leaders of the INDIA bloc and its allies do not give much importance to his statements, while the ruling side has consistently viewed him as an immature leader”

UP Women’s Commission Chairperson Babita Singh Chauhan said, “I say that Rahul Gandhi should be ashamed. He should at least not use such indecent language, especially against women. Both his mother and sister are involved in politics, so I feel that such words are not appropriate. Secondly, I will tell you that the Opposition has no issue. They have made indecent language their weapon. Now, you saw the kind of language the children used at Jantar Mantar. Who was behind it? It was these very people. They were the ones instigating them.”

Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat defending the conduct said, “No, let me clarify. He was not referring to Meloni. Rahul Gandhi was referring to the way the Prime Minister travels abroad and the kind of gestures he makes.”
