RSS Chief Highlights India’s Spiritual Role, Stresses Unity And Cultural Strength At Tripura Temple Event

Agartala: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Tuesday that given the challenges the world faces today, India could play a meaningful role in sharing the universal values of Sanatan Dharma with the global community.

Addressing the gathering after attending the temple ‘Pran Pratishtha’ and ‘Kumbhabhishekham’ ceremony of Maa Soundarya Chinmayi at Mohanpur near Tripura’s capital Agartala, the RSS supremo without naming any world leader remarked that despite knowing serious difficulties such actions may cause, agendas driven by self-interest, rigid ideologies, and fanaticism are being forcefully pushed.

Advocating strongly for construction of temples, Bhagwat said that earlier temples used to be the centre of community life.

He emphasised that construction of temples is not limited to mere offering prayers alone but it plays an instrumental role in enlightening the society.

He underlined that without ‘bhakti’ (devotion), ‘shakti’ (power) becomes nothing but a sheer nuisance.

Cautioning against the nefarious attempts by external forces to disturb the social harmony of India, the RSS Chief said that unity in diversity remains the nation’s core value.

Highligting the civilisational depth of India, Bhagwat noted that the present nature, character and culture has evolved over centuries shaped by external influences and internal experiences.

Expressing deep concern on the ongoing conflicts across the world without naming them, the RSS Chief said that once a war breaks out it rarely comes to a quick end.

He underscored India’s potential to guide the world through the universal values of Sanatan Dharma amid rising global challenges.

Highlighting India’s enduring cultural ethos, the RSS Chief reaffirmed that unity in diversity remains the nation’s core strength.

Bhagwat also cautioned against attempts by external forces to disrupt social harmony, urging vigilance among citizens.

The Maa Soundarya Chinmayi Mandir, dedicated to Maa Tripureshwari, was inaugurated on the auspicious occasion associated with Adi Shankaracharya in Fakirmura village under Mohanpur subdivision in West Tripura.

The RSS Chief also appreciated the initiative of providing free education at Chinmaya Harihara Vidyalaya, stressing that true knowledge lies in understanding, not mere speech.

He concluded by saying that while the world has experimented with various philosophies over centuries, it is increasingly looking toward India’s perspective on life, rooted in peace, harmony, and spiritual wisdom, as a guiding force in today’s turbulent times.

The consecration ceremony was also attended by Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, among other dignitaries.

The event coincided with the observance of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti.

Taking to his official X account, Chief Minister Saha said: “Today, in the august presence of the revered Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Mohan Bhagwat Ji, at Mohanpur, I participated in the consecration and sacred Kumbhabhisheka ceremony of the statue of Ma Soundarya Chinmoyee, crafted from a single granite stone measuring 15 feet in height, installed in the grounds of Chinmoy Mission School.”

The Chief Minister added, “In this open and enchanting environment, surrounding this statue are 27 pillars adorned with verses from Adi Shankaracharya’s immortal Soundarya Lahari and valuable teachings, which will help foster the development of auspicious thoughts and reflections on our cosmic connection.”

“I believe that this sacred site will, in the days to come, be regarded as one of the foremost centres for spiritual, contemplative, devotional, and cultural inspiration, alongside education,” he said.
