Sukanta Majumdar Says BJP Govt Will Act Against Any Top Leader Involved In Wrongdoing

Kolkata: Union Minister of State and BJP leader, Sukanta Majumdar, on Friday intensified his attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress, alleging widespread corruption, unchecked infiltration, and deteriorating law and order in West Bengal, while asserting that any action against individuals — including top leaders — would strictly follow legal procedures.

Speaking to IANS, Majumdar said that if allegations against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee or Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee are being probed by central agencies like the CBI and ED, the matter would ultimately be decided by the courts.

“Wherever there is corruption, strict action will be taken. Whoever the person is, no one will be spared,” he said, underlining that the BJP government would not act out of vendetta but in accordance with the law.

He further added that any decision regarding investigation against the Chief Minister would only be taken after the formation of the government and would be based on due legal procedure.

“First, let the government be formed. After that, the Chief Minister and the Cabinet will take decisions as per the law. Any investigation or action must follow due legal procedure and cannot be based on vindictive motives. A government should function according to the rule of law,” Majumdar said.

Launching a broader attack on the Trinamool’s governance, Majumdar said public anger against corruption and administrative failures has translated into growing electoral support for the BJP.

“I believe that a BJP government will be formed in West Bengal with a decisive mandate. The scale of voting reflects the people’s resolve to bring change. Even migrant workers returned home to cast their votes against the present regime,” he said, expressing confidence of a “massive victory” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the issue of infiltration, Majumdar reiterated the BJP’s “detect, delete and deport” policy, calling it a serious national concern. He accused the state government of failing to curb infiltration and linked it to worsening law and order.

“The current situation reflects administrative failure. Infiltration has security implications, and it cannot be ignored. A BJP government will address it in a systematic and lawful manner,” he said.

The BJP leader also criticised the ruling party’s stance on electoral procedures, suggesting that the Trinamool’s allegations indicate a lack of confidence. “Their conduct shows they are mentally prepared to sit in the Opposition. These tactics reflect insecurity,” he remarked.

Responding to concerns raised by the Trinamool, Majumdar said the Election Commission had already clarified procedural aspects and dismissed the allegations as misleading.

On the issue of post-poll violence, Majumdar cited Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assurance that Central Armed Police Forces would remain deployed for nearly 60 days after the results to maintain peace.

“The priority is to ensure that the people of Bengal do not suffer violence after exercising their democratic rights. Adequate security arrangements will be in place,” he added.
