Hyderabad: A court on Wednesday remanded trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy to police custody for two days in a sexual assault case.

First Class Additional Judicial Magistrate of Ranga Reddy District at Rajendranagar pronounced the orders on the petition filed by the police.

The accused was earlier sent to judicial custody for 14 days on July 29 and has since been lodged in Chanchalguda Central Prison.

A woman batchmate of Reddy at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad had lodged a police complaint against him on July 18.

Based on her complaint, a case was registered at Attapur Police Station under Sections 64(1) read with 63(b)(iii), 109, 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, 127(2), 115(2), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 66E, 67A of the IT Act.

According to police, the accused officer trainee was found to be involved in the commission of the reported offences. He was taken into custody on July 28.

Police said the accused threatened to release private chats after the victim broke off her relationship with him and married another person.

Krishna Reddy earlier worked as a Police Constable in Andhra Pradesh and later joined the IPS in the 2025 Batch after clearing the UPSC. He has been undergoing training since December 2025 at SVPNPA.

The accused came into contact with the victim via Instagram in mid-2025 following her response to his post about his journey towards success in joining the IPS.

According to police, throughout his training period at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) and SVPNPA, the relationship was marked by frequent arguments, emotional manipulation, possessiveness and volatile behaviour.

The accused repeatedly threatened to commit suicide, displayed weapons, insulted the victim, made persistent demands for multiple relationships, and engaged in acts of harassment, including damaging her laptop, creating fake social media accounts after being blocked, threatening to release private chats, and contacting her family and colleagues without her consent.

During the investigation, police found new evidence suggesting that the accused was allegedly in a close relationship with another woman from Andhra Pradesh.

Krishna Reddy was allegedly in a relationship with the woman, who was married in 2014, separated from her husband in 2023 and has been living with her son since then.

Acting on his suggestion, she moved to Hyderabad. She initially worked for a private organisation but in January this year reportedly resigned from her job on his advice and joined a job at an IAS coaching institute.
