Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has made significant progress in implementing the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, a flagship health scheme aimed at providing financial protection to vulnerable families. As of now, out of 3.46 crore beneficiaries eligible under the scheme in Odisha, 1.47 crore beneficiaries have been distributed Ayushman cards, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister at the State Assembly today.

In response to a query raised by BJD MLA Goutam Budhha Das, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling revealed crucial details about the Ayushman card distribution in Odisha. Das had sought information on the number of individuals who have received Ayushman cards so far, as well as those who are yet to get them. Additionally, he asked for district-wise data on the same.

Replying to the BJD MLA’s query, the Minister also disclosed the expenditure incurred by the government on printing, branding, and distributing the new Ayushman cards.

The Minister also assured that those who haven’t received their Ayushman cards are still accessing medical treatment using their ration cards or Aadhaar cards.

The Health Minister further stated that the government has incurred significant expenses for printing, branding, and distributing these cards. The expenditure includes Rs 6,26,88,059 for card printing and distribution from the central government grant and Rs 10,25,97,580 for card cover kits from the state government grant.
