Foreign Liquor Seized

Bhubaneswar: Bonai police on Friday arrested one person and seized 45.240 liters of foreign liquor, along with a motorcycle, in Sundargarh district.

The accused has been identified as Munindra Pathak (50), a resident of Pachoukhar village under Deo police station in Aurangabad district, Bihar. Pathak is currently residing in Dareikela village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bonai police station in Sundargarh district.

According to an official press release, the breakthrough occurred on Thursday night during the PCR ‘B’ shift patrolling duty at Uparbahal Chowk under Bonai police station. Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) A. Naik, while conducting routine patrols, discovered Munindra Pathak in illegal possession of 40.250 liters of foreign liquor.

The accused was found transporting the liquor on his Hero Honda CD Deluxe motorcycle (Registration No. OR-02BN-6556), allegedly intending to sell it to the public for personal gain.

As the act constitutes a violation of Section 52 (a)(i) of the Odisha Excise Act, ASI A. Naik immediately seized the liquor and reported the matter to the police station.

Further investigation led to the seizure of the following liquor brands: 4 bottles of Royal Stag Reserve Whiskey (375 ml each), 4 bottles of Royal Challenger Whiskey (375 ml each), 4 bottles of Iconiq White Whiskey (375 ml each), and 55 bottles of Kingfisher Super Premium Strong Beer (650 ml each). The total quantity of liquor seized amounted to 40.250 liters, along with the motorcycle.
